Dr Raymond MatthewsCo-Scientific Convenor
Dr Raymond Matthews is a sleep researcher and lecturer of psychology at the Appleton Institute, at the Adelaide campus of CQUniversity. Dr Matthews’ research interests in sleep and fatigue stem from a background in military aviation, with a primary focus on the effects of sleep, wake and time of the day neurocognitive performance.
Dr Matthews completed his PhD in Psychology at the Centre for Sleep Research, University of South Australia, as well as a BSc and BHSc with Honours in Psychology at the University of Adelaide.
Passionate and enthusiastic about sleep and fatigue research, Dr Matthews is an author of over 70 scientific journal articles, published abstracts and book chapters including a chapter in the Encyclopaedia of Sleep.
He has supervised more than 20 honours level and undergraduate research students and enthusiastically uses radio appearances, web forums, and community and industry presentations to communicate the effects of reduced sleep to the public.
